Common questions

What are the Classic, Platinum and VIP tiers and how do I qualify?+

Classic is the default tier. Platinum requires a deposit of EUR 200,000+ (USD 250,000+ on the UAE site) or a set trading volume; VIP requires EUR 1,000,000+ (USD 1,250,000+) or volume. Higher tiers get lower spreads and commissions and priority support; Saxo Elite is for clients above roughly EUR 5 million in assets.

Is there a minimum deposit?+

The international site states no minimum funding requirement for a Classic account, but the UAE/MENA site lists USD 5,000 minimum funding. Tier deposits must be funded within the first 30 days to qualify for Platinum or VIP.

What fees does Saxo charge beyond spreads and commissions?+

A custody fee of 0.15% (Classic), 0.12% (Platinum) or 0.09% (VIP) per year on stocks, ETFs/ETCs and bonds in most regions (plus VAT for EU residents), currency conversion of up to 0.25%, FX rollover markups of 0.50–0.75%, and no inactivity, platform, deposit or withdrawal fees.

Who regulates Saxo and is it a real bank?+

Saxo Bank A/S is a fully licensed Danish bank supervised by the Danish FSA (licence no. 1149) and classified as a SIFI. Group entities are regulated by the FCA, FINMA, MAS, ASIC, SFC and JFSA. In Dubai, Saxo Bank A/S operates a DFSA-regulated representative office; the former Saxo Bank (Dubai) Ltd licence (F001014) was withdrawn in 2017.
